View Full Version : Not getting Little Jacob's Achievement...98.33%

So I unlocked the buying guns ability for Little Jacob, but the first time he called me to inform me that I had that ability, I accidentally walked into a mission start before I was able to get the achievement notification. Now, he is at 100% like, and I have used the ability several times, but I have yet to get the achievement. Am I screwed? Is this what is keeping me from the last 1.66%? Is there a way around this to get it to trigger?

Thanks to all who have insight!

Man, that sucks....

Do you have a seperate save point before you walked into that mission? If you do, load it up and just start going through, doing activities with him. If you don't I would suggest starting the game over and playing the first 2-3 hours before you can befriend him. It sucks but that is what you will need to do.

Wait another idea....Let it slide down to below 15% like from him so that you lose the ability. Then just go back through all the activities with him and get it back up to around 75% to unlock the ability again.

Hopefully something works for you...Good Luck.

vdub- thanks for the response. it turns out that the last 1.66 was from me not going bowling with brucie. However, I did have an old save with LJ that had me at 40%, so I just had to go up from there.

:offtopic:

side note, what are you rollin in? I have an 06 GLI that is patiently waiting on springs and apr chip:ar15:

Glad I could help. I was going to ask you next if the last percentage was for completing the activities and beating every friend.

I was big into the Dub scene about 2-3 years ago. I still drive my 02 Jetta 1.8T but it is all stock except the GIAC X-Plus chip and an Oettinger Rear spoiler. (Stock Long Beach 17's and Uni-Black car to give you an idea).
I used to have a list of things going on with it like:
Golf front-end conversion with Reiger RR-X front bumper and GLI Lip kit on sides and rear.
19" Axis Milano's stagger with 19X8.5 and 19X 9.5 w/ Toyo T1-S tires
Single Wiper conversion on front window
60/40 Cup Kit suspension
Brembo Big Brake Kit (13.4" in front, 12" in back)
Upgraded Turbo to a K04-001 (Audi TT Turbo)
APR FMIC
GHL Turbo-Back Exhaust

The list goes on...It was just too expensive to maintain a daily driver/show car so I sold everything and paid back one of my student loans:omg: haha

You have any future plans besides the Chip and Suspension?

There are so many things that I want to do to it, but just not sure if I will be able to for a while. I am starting med school in three weeks, so thats going to take all of my money. It will be paid off in a little over a year and a half, along with my wife's car, so then it will free up some cash for me to do a few things.

Here is what I am thinking:

CF hood custom painted: My car is Platinum Gray, and I want to keep the middle of the hood raw CF cleared, and match the flow of the hood lines with a small red pinstripe to match the red in the grille, and then colormatch outside the red line
I tried to find a picture to attach, but this is the closest I could find. Imagine a small red line between the black and white on the hood, continuing around the grille where the original red line is:http://i29.tinypic.com/9vdp9t.jpg

CF interior trim instead of aluminum

Convert foglights to xenon

TB exhaust

19" Audi RS4 wheels

Looking at body work, but right now they all seem a little cheap looking, except for Oettinger, and they are awesome/expensive

Little things like a boost gauge and stuff like that are on the list, but hardly describe a custom car

Oh I understand completely what you mean about the little things adding to, but not setting off, a custom work. When I parted my car I got a little more than $12,000 for everything :D. I paid more than that though with labor included so it was fun but not really worth it in the long haul.

I really like those rims you have though. They seem to complete the car. That was my biggest gripe against the new VWs is that they look too long, so they need at least 17's to not look funny. And I agree that the Clear CF in the middle with the red stripe and color-matching is very hot.

The body kits on the new dubs are just sooooo damn expensive too. I mean whether you look at Reiger or Oettinger, then look incredible but cost way too much to justify putting them on, especially if you live in a snowy area like me.

I am looking at trading in the 02 and getting an 07 Fahrenheit they have at one of my 2 Dub dealerships here in town (#997 of 1500). It's sweet with about 9,000 miles on it and only 23,500. I would work that down but it's an option. The only problem is that the 1.8T I have now is my winter car so I kind of want to run it into the ground. I worked at a BMW dealership until a few months back and got a steal of a 2-year lease on an 08 Z4 convertible ($147 a month, be jealous:p). That is currently my baby now. All black, I tinted the windows, and I have a set of 19" M6 rims on order that I'm waiting to throw on there. Inside is all black with red trim on the seats and door panels. I'll get some pics of it tonight if I get a chance.

Please post the pictures! Your annual mileage allowance must be like 380 miles every year....no way its any more than that for that price!

I just know for right now, all of the things I want to do will cost me an arm and a leg, and I just don't think I have enough limbs to spare.

I can get body work done crazy cheap if I take enough time. I may buy the CF hood and then I can get the colors for free....My only concern is cracking or yellowing of the material. If that happens im kinda out of luck.... At least the chip is killer for only $600- takes it from 200hp/208tq to 252hp/303tq

If you go for the GTI you will love it. The Fahrenheit is a great package- really looks nice. I have a passat with the 1.8t, and its a decent motor, but that 2.0T is amazing. The fit and finish of the car is also fantastic. The inside of my car is more than two years old, but doesn't show it at all!!!

I get 15,000 miles with that too haha. Ah the joys of BMW Employee Incentives. I waited to get the car before I put my 2 weeks in. Screwing the system is so much fun:)

APR are definitely great chips. If I wouldn't have wanted the sport mode option when I had the bigger Turbo, I definitely would have strayed from GIAC as they don't add quite as much power than the APR chips.

The only problem with the Fahrenheit is that it is an Auto and I really need my car to be a 6-speed. It's just too much damn fun. I haven't really done much research on the Fahrenheit's so I don't even know if they made Manuals (although I'm almost certain they would). The interiors are absolutely gorgeous though. They don't feel cheap like the new Mercedes do (sit in any 08 Benz and you'll see what I'm talking about) and you can never go wrong with a German car. Tanks bro...Tanks.

Take advantage of cheap body work, but make sure that it is not crappy cheap. There's nothing worse than a bad looking dub....they make me want to cry. I think a body kit looks a little tacky nowadays and that if you keep the stock styling of the GLI and just add the CF and color match the trim-lines, it will say so much more than any body kit will. It will be a tasteful car, not a nasty one.

I hear you on the stick thing...but I will say that the auto (DSG, which is different from any other auto that you have ever driven.....) is pretty great. I have it. Its faster and more efficient than a manual. Because of it being essentially an electronically controlled manual, it has less rotating mass and is able to be more efficient.

Either way, its good to run into people who appreciate vw's and don't look past them, just thinking of the 70's beetle (or the 2.0 non turbo motor in the Jetta IV's and earlier...)

Still waiting on pics!

Curtis, those pics are awesome. That is what I love about VW's...that they are so versatile. You can have a crazy sick dub and then through a roof rack and a cooler on it, and it still looks amazing. I used to have a Euro plate on the front of mine when I had the Reiger front end and it said "VTecThis". I got alot of hate from the ricers for that.

I guess i'll have to give the DSG a chance. It may be more efficient, but there is just something about cruising with your foot hovering the clutch and leaving rubber at every stoplight.

And as for the pics of my baby, it was pouring last night so I never got a chance to get outside (yes, it sits outside all teh time :( ). I have to take a defensive drivers course tonight so i'll try and get some pics of it before I leave tonight, if not tomorrow evening.

Don't get me wrong...you can still leave some rubber....

just make sure you at least put springs on it. mine is still sitting like a 4x4....the only time it looked right was when I was moving and had it loaded with gear to bring the ride down....

as far as sitting outside- sounds like life for me!

I just have learned to love the clay bar...

hahah Mine looks like a 4X4 now with the stock suspension and the Long Beaches.

Clay bars are a great friend of mine. I like to use Turtle Wax once a month when I go to town on it. Clays bars come on the weekend if it's rained, otherwise, just a nice wash.

Yeah...I'm at 100% now, and trying to finish up the "genetically superior" achievement to top off all of the single player list- getting LIVE gold in a month....

:offtopic: ???

anyway back to the off topic topic....

i have always thought you have to be careful using claybars too much...while they are great for getting the contaminates off of the clear, it is still a mild abrasive and will take off the clear little by little, even with a good lube. Similar to wet sanding, but less so

The biggest difference that I have seen is in the cloth I use for washing. When I was doing some body work on my old truck, I asked the dupont shop for some cotton towels and they gave me a box of them for free- kind of a swiffer looking cloth, and I wash with those. They don't create any swirl marks, but are still able to get bugs off of the paint. I usually get one good wash and an interior wipedown out of a single cloth, and then I throw it away. This also prevents any build up of grit in a constantly used cloth.

When you get Live, let me know. I just have half the stunt jumps, the birds, and the 100% achievement, then all that is left is the online stuff. Did you have to just complete the activities with the friends or did you beat them at each thing (i.e. pool, darts etc.)? If you have to beat them...I still don't understand darts haha.

I hear you on the Clay bar. As a matter of fact, the paint on my spoiler has chipped in a few places from excessive waxing 2 summers ago. I must have waxed it every other, if not every week. I prefer to use a Chamoise as you can throw it in the washer and dryer and you can get a few hundred uses out of it before you need to toss it simply because it has torn a little. They slide water right off and leave almost no residue or swirlage on the car. Great stuff.

As far as I know, you only have to complete each activity once, and only with Brucie, Little Jacob, and Packie. You have to win each of the competitions at least once to get 100% also.

Darts is simple...and if i misunderstood your message and you already know what to do, then I apologize:

1. You get 3 darts to throw.
2. If you throw in the black or white (the large open areas with the numbers) you get the number at the edge of that section x1
3. There are rings that overlap the entirety of the dartboard. The outside edge ring is worth the number x2, and the middle ring (not the bulls eye worth 50 or the 25 pt ring) is worth x3

You count down from 301, and you have to end exactly on "0" by hitting in the x2 ring

EX. You throw 3 darts, get 20x3, 13, and 9x2 leaving you a balance of 110.

The next round, you throw a 15x 2, 18 and a 12x3 which leaves you with 26

On your next round, you will want to get the number down to a lower even number, so that you can aim for the x2 section of half of the remaining balance.

In this case, you would want to aim for the outside ring in the 13 section, which would give you the exact 26 ending on the double.

Sorry if you already knew...

Do you have pictures of your old Vdub? Would be nice to see it. And I will certainly let you know when I am up on live. We move into the new place in two weeks, and then figure a week to get the internet hooked up.

Ah, thanks for the Darts help. I wasn't sure how to score in Darts. I would just always go for the bullseye haha. I won one time and didn't even know how.

And it's good to know that you don't have to beat each of the friends. That means I only need to go boating with brucie and i'll be done with all of those.

I don't have any pics of my old baby here at work but there are 2 pics of her on Facebook right now. I can try and link those on here later this afternoon. And I'm struggling with picturetrail to save my Z4 pic on it, so that I can upload the image onto here.

This is what the car will look like with the M6 rims on it. (19X8.5 and 19X9.5)
