I pretty much own this thread.;)

For me, 2 have broke down on me.

1st 360 - Dead Drive within 1 1/2 Weeks of buying it Brand New.:mad:

2nd 360 - Fried Outlet due to Nyko Intercooler.:mad::mad:

My first box still works, but it usually takes about 10 to 20 tries before it will read discs. I haven't had a single problem with my Elite though. :)

I am so sorry for being a nit-picky SOB, but you should use "HAVE" not 'has'. For me, 2 (360's) have broke down on me. Comeone man, subject/verb agreement! :p

Fortunately for me, only my 1st 360 has broken down, 1 week short of breaking the 1 year warranty. (Man am I lucky!) Since I think MArch of this year, my new 360 is going strong, has frozen a very minimal amount of times, and has yet to get any form of the red rings. (Knock on Wood)

I wish everyone luck with their 360's in the future, and I hope you'll pray for me as well. :D

2 of mine have broken.

1st 360- The video card broke and the screen would not show up.

2nd 360- Stopped reading disc and the disc drive broke..which I fear is about to happen soon.

So one was a freak accident and the other was your fault :) Nyko Intercoolers should not be sold at game stores, they're a bunch of crap... and if Microsoft finds proof that you were using one it'll void your warranty :eek:

I've had one go on me, but I did buy mine right after the first launch wave... and it only broke a few months ago. Mine was still under my extended warranty and I got a new one.

BTW, you guys should check out llamma.com (http://www.llamma.com/) if you haven't seen it before. They have a lot of ways to fix the simpler problems as well as some really cool stuff you can do to your boxes.

My launch console got the 3 red lights after about 4 months of play. About a month or so after I got my 2nd one, the disc drive started to mess up. I'm on my third, but it got the 3 red lights about a week ago. I restarted it and it works fine... Hopefully I'tl stay that way.

The Intercooler incident was my own fault because I was a NoOb back then. M$ isn't smart enough to find out. I never even told them about the cooler. Now I own 4 360's and I know better.;)

But yeah, 1 in every 3 360's will get the red ring of death at some time. I most have one of the other two (I hope) because I have had very minimal problems at the MOST minimum level.:cool:

1st launch console lasted about 6-8 months, then the graphics card fried
2nd one got the 3 lights of death
3rd one wouldnt read games, and didnt like opening the disc tray

Touch wood, the 4th one (elite) is fine

My first one kept freezing up on me within the first three weeks. I went through three copies of NFS:Most Wanted before I finally came to grips with what was going on and called Microsoft. The sent me a box next day and when I sent my baby in I shit you not I got a refurb back in three days. It blows my mind when people tell me they're still waiting and it's been three weeks.

That refurb lasted me until about a month ago. I noticed it was starting to grind a little bit. It was taking me a pretty long time to log into XBL and when it did it took the system a minute or so to let me know I was. Basically, it was getting sketchy and I didn't want the hassle. I traded it in toward an Elite. :)

I hade my first one for about 4 months before it died on me. took 3 weeks to get it replaced and when i got my new one (which just happened to be the same day i got my new HDTV, came in the mail as i was setting up my TV) the disc drive wouldnt open up. Those fuckers sent me a busted one in return for my busted one. so i went almost 2 months without my 360. sad story isnt it :(

Anyway, on topic, my 360 just RROD'd on like Thursday or Friday after freezing up occasionally the previous 2-3 days, which I think makes 5 dead 360s for me.

2. 1st Replacement - Froze up a lot, never RROD'd though. Maybe it was the games (mostly 2K6 Sports games).

3. 2nd Replacement - I forget what happened to this one exactly. Probably another RROD.

5. 4th Replacement - Lasted almost a full year I think, maybe longer. Was nearly flawless until it started to freeze up during Puzzle Quest until it finally went full-blown RROD.

I've gone through three. First one died because of a Power surge. Okay, dandy. I go to Kmart. Get a replacement[yay for warranties]. Guess what? IT WAS DEFECTIVE! I replaced it, and got a new one. Whoopie. Then it died by ANOTHER Power Surge. Took five weeks to get another one, because they sent it to repair.

Im having hella problems with my 360 right now, have a feeling that im going to be scrapping it pretty soon :( the whole system is "laggy" trying to do anything on the dash board takes forever, opening up my guide either freezes my console or it takes seriously a minute or more just for the info to pop up. Not to mention that if i close the drive with no game in it it wont open back up. Ive spent over an hour last week just trying to open it cuz i accidently bumped the drive when it was open, its teh suxor :mad:

I wish MS would just announce and release the "ultimate" already

My launch console broke on me 2 weeks ago at a LAN in Wales, which is the opposite end of a country on the opposite end of where I live, which was a bit disappointing to say the least, especially after catching 3 trains and a car ride to get there for it to last 2 hours before giving me a hardware failure, which sucked.

Got it swapped for a HDMI version Xbox360 which is a lot cooler, although a little bit louder, but as soon as you have any sound on it gets blanked out anyway. Either way it lasted a whole lot of hours (well into the thousands) and I still wouldn't (and don't) hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

I know a guy who is now on his 7th and he still won't comtemplate anything else :p.

even though I'm on my 4th 360 only one has broken down on me. I got the error 74 code. I read on how to fix it and actually wrapping in a towel and letting it melt it's inside worked for a few days . After it returned to it's error 74 state again I sold it on ebay to purchase a newer premium version with the HDMI port . Got my fingers crossed.

exane thats how mine it starting to act too..i think the end is nearing...anyway could we send our boxes back to microsoft and get it replaced just like the people who get 3 red rings?? cause i dont have a warranty and i know friends who havent had one either but could still send there boxes and get refurbished ones from MS. does this free repair sort of thing apply for us too? and also what is this ultimate you speak of???

The ultimate will most likely be the next version. The drive inside the HD DVD player is a exact fit to the ones in the 360's we own now. What color will it be??????? Only real color left is silver. I'll will be a owner if and when they decided to complete this upgrading stage.

Hate to tell you this. But unless its a premium with a HDMI port on the back or a elite or a Halo 3 version xbox360 you better buy that warranty . The three I listed are the newest version with a outside visual promise that you have the cured xbox360.

Another one bites the dust for me and this time it took Call of Duty 4 with it. After getting a disc unreadable error when trying to join Joe & Flea for some COD4 today, I check the disc and it's scratched to shit. And that disc was only 2 days ago taken out of its case and placed into my 360 and hasn't moved since. Fucking MS....

The best part is the stupid immigrant on the phone told me that because Microsoft doesn't publish Call of Duty 4, I'd have to call Activision about a replacement. I'm like "why would it be Activision's responsibility to replace the game? It was your shitty console that destroyed the disc!"

3. Second replacement 0 days defective from repair center
4. Third replacent 1 month please insert this disk into an XBOX360 console.
5. Fourth replacement 1 year currently working but must leave a blank cd in disc drive for it to open on start up

I have not had one break down on me yet but I fear for the little guy's life every time I turn him on. I did have a Nyko intercooler but my friends warned me and I returned the little bugger. That was too close of a call, although my xbox still overheats occasionally. :rolleyes:

Ok I have had 2 get the red rings on me.

In June of 2007, I was playing spider man 3 and all of a sudden my xbox froze. I figure well i'll turn it back on and no problem. Well, got the rings. Called Micrcosoft and i was outside my warranty. They said that it would cost me $140 to fix it. I talked to a manager and they knocked it down to $70 for me. Sent it in and got it back in like 2 weeks.

In December of 2007, was getting ready for the playoffs for season 2 of the h2h gamerscore league. I got the red rings again. I called microsoft again and they said that my xbox was out of warranty. They told me, that my xbox was flagged for being modded. I was like what, this is the same xbox you microsoft sent me in June. I talked to 3 different supervisors before they told me that they would fix it for free. I got it back in less then a week this time. As soon as I got it back, I called microsoft to check on my warranty and they told me that the warranty expired in march of 08. I asked them about the modded thing, they said that it was a mistake in their computer.

So, hopefully I don't get the rings after march of this year.

I have had one RRD and one with a video issue and the replacement I could not "sync" a controller too. so 3 sofar,but one is making noise right now.and my halo edition console has a lazy disc drive so it's a matter of time.
I will say that it has been about 11 months since I had to send one in*knocks on wood*
