User titles.

Something I have been tossing around is that I have never been really content on what the default user titles are.

So it occurs me, why not make them associated with real heroes. I'm not entirely sure how we would do it but an example would be that somebody with a low post count gets a no name hero like Bucky, lol. On the opposate end, Higher Post Counts get more familiar Heroes.

This is just something I was tossing around. Let me know what you think or if you have any suggestions.

The top would be around the lines of Sups, Spidey, Cap, Wolvy. And the bottom would be like Low end nobodies.

I dont' know how post count should be worked with ranks beyond that, but I'm pretty sure brain-stormimng rank names won't be hard.

My question is how do we gauge which ones are cooler than others? Can it be like StarWars and let use choose our path? I'd personally like to be a Magneto or Lex Luthor because they were pretty bad ass; and Magneto was a hero in the Age of Apocalypse series.

I don't really know if continuity matters, as long as everybody is content on one uniform method.

That's an amazing idea. How bout open up a forum and people post ideas of names for the next 24 hours. Then keep a list of all the names posted. Then the mods/admins come up with a system to use. We trust you guys...

Well, I know the names of heroes thing is neat... but there are a lot of different ones as well as people's feelings towards them...

Well are we compilen a list or what? Also how about when you register for the site you can give everyone a choice, simplay as "you become your own hero, which path will you take" and then there is a choice of light and dark. After someone choses then they are only able to have titles from the selected group.

As far as some of the top titles i say they go by power. Good guys could be along the lines of Sup, Cable, Franklin Richards. Evil doers could be vader, apocolipse, Galactis. Just a couple of ideas but i have a wealth of knowlegde when it comes to marval so id love to help make the list of suitable names for fellow users.

King and I were talking and we wanted to base it on A) Post Count, and B) Reputation.

Whats "Reputation" you ask?

Well Timmy, see that Square underneith your Username, that's your current reputation.

It's affected by the "Karma" button listed under your Avatar. Anytime somebody clicks that, it gives them the chance to either leave good or bad feeback. Yes this CAN be abused hence the reason each of you only have SO much power when clicking it.

Here's the details:

Default Reputation
What reputation level shall new users receive upon registration? Make sure that you have a reputation level that is at least equal to or less than this value.

Value: 10

Administrator's Reputation Power
How many reputation points does an administrator give or take away with each click?

Set to 0 to have administrators follow the same rules as everyone else.

Value: 10

Register Date Factor
For every X number of days, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.

Value: 1

Post Count Factor
For every X number of posts, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power

Value: 10

Reputation Point Factor
For every X points of reputation, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.

Value: 100

Minimum Post Count
How many posts must a user have before his reputation hits count on others?

Value: 50

Daily Reputation Clicks Limit
How many reputation clicks can a user give over each 24 hour period? Administrators are exempt from this limit.

Value: 10

Reputation User Spread
How many different users must you give reputation to before you can hit the same person again? Administrators are exempt from this limit.

Value: 10

Essentially, everybody starts with 10 reputation. And all of you have the abover requirements to get the ability to affect someones rep, but once you do, you can click on the "Karma" and give them good and bad feedback. That affects their rep either +1 or -1. We will be setting up levels to have them display something with our theme.

Once again, even though this system can be abused, this is a way that can help determine whether or not you are good and bad. This is ultimatly NOT the deciding factor. But one thing is that you all have to keep in your mind to rate peoples post. A good way to do this is by asking yourself "How would I respond to this post?" Would you flame, or would you give props?

We also want to have the choice system. Have a list of X ammount of Heroes or Villans to choose from when you get to X ammount of posts.

Man we have some badass lil systems in place, this along with hero points is cooler then hell. Also the idea of letting people chose there hero title is a great idea. Again i just want to say i really want to be involved in creating that list if that is ok with you.

Now we just have to make sure everyone knows about the Karma system and how to use it. This could really be badass if it isnt abused. If a post stands out to me (or mentions my name ;) ) then im going to give some karma feedback, if you will, from now on.

Just so everybody knows, the best way to look at your most recient comments left for you is at teh bottom of your user cp. It will list who left is, that post they left it on, and what their comment was if they left any. :)

I think it would be better if you could see it, in case people leave you bad rep just because they don't like you, you could see who is abusing the system.

It could be more xbox based. like the low end would be the red ring of death and the high end would be getting your coffin back from microsoft after waiting for two months.

Zero, wannabe, etc., I'd like to see something a little less negative towards new members and was going to suggest that something more uplifting be implimented... and this thread was where I was going to do it ;)

Hold that thought Vista Code and I talked about this about 30 minutes ago (before I left to go get some Backyard Burger). This evening expect a thread asking for hero title submissions which will be open for a set amount of time, then I'll go through them with the Mods/Admins and come out with a large number to be voted on in a multi-vote thread.

Basically exactly how you explained it above. Just don't post heroes in here, wait for later. ;)
