Songs by Anberlin are amazing. Check out: Symphony of Blase, The Feel Good Drag, Never take Friendship Personal, Paperthin Hymn, and Day Late Friend.

Kind of Punk/Emo mix. Great stuff tho.

Oh, listen to some classical music to. Yeah I said it, appreciate some classical music. It takes 100 times more talent, and can be some of the very best music ever. Go see a classical music concert too, but make sure you are seeing at least ONE well-known piece.

For example, I went to go see the New York Phillarmonic Orchestra while they played the 1812 Overture....I had chills it was so good.

Also, the Halo soundtracks are always good. :D

You gotta go with Led Zeppelin, if you don't you're life is wasted

Speaking of Life Wasted, Pearl Jam is also good.

I second this post, and would add that opera is amazing as well.

After seeing you mention them at least twice, having a friend talk about them, and doing a little research on them, I downloaded some of their music. My interest piqued when I learned 1) they are from the Cackalacky and 2) one of their albums is named Alaska (don't ask). So far I'm digging it.

For those not fans of Hip-Hop, you need to buy Jay-Z:Reasonable Doubt and the counterpart DVD: The Streets is Watching. Simply Mastery.

The lyrics paint the picture tremendously, then the DVD puts the pictures into motion.

But if I'm not a fan of Hip Hop why should I buy it?

lol, I hate the sound of that song... and I don't even play GH3 :(

But ANYTHING off Rock Band = a great listening time to be had by all!

Tom Sawyer, Won't Get Fooled Again, Run To The Hills, Dani California, and Fortunate Son have been in my MP3 player for so long now...

It gets old way too quick. I loved this song before it came out because I saw it on Roadrunners site and loved it the first 10 times I listened to it. Then I saw them live and can't really listen to the song anymore. Dragonforce Live = MOST BORING SHOW EVA!

I'm really glad not everyone here listens purely to bands, don't get me wrong I like my fair share of rock etc. It's just that the first form of music I loved was underground hip-hop, although I must admit I am growing bored of most new stuff and therefore stick with what I've got. It's just like I say I'm glad someone else here likes the same stuff.

For now though I'm slowly expanding on other forms of music that I like, and as mentioned in the 2nd post (I think) 'The goo goo dolls - Iris' is a great great song, and is currently my alarm every morning. But yeh thanks to threads like this I'm checking everyones recommendations and building a decent and diverse library, so thanks everyone.

Oh, and I like dance/anything funky too :omg:

What about electronica/DJs? Those are my musical roots, but trance and techno just aren't what they used to be. And there's classical music of course, in fact I need to go bum some more CD's off my dad. :p

I'm into that too, mainly as I started out as a DJ (not in the most common sense of mixing and playing popular songs, but more as whats known as a Turntablist - cutting up and creating music from other music...you should see my record crates, that shit right there is as varied as it gets)

But I have a thing for almost anything electronic sounding, I love good dance with funky basslines, not really into pumping techno and stuff so I gear more towards house, just not the monotonous looping break style of house.

Haven't heard anything ground-breaking in a while though.
