Having picked both of these up and watching them several times, I have to admit they are both amazing. I had the opportunity to see them in theaters before they where pulled, and it was an amazing experience there as well.
Planet Terror is Robert Rodriguez's zombie movie, which is both nasty and hilarious. It's a perfect blend of both violence and comedy, and it's the "action" piece of the grindhouse set. The acting is spot on, and there are some pretty interesting cameos. Rodriguez can certainly making some great movies, and Planet Terror continues his spree of excellence.
Death Proof is Quetin Tarantino's latest work. The first half is mostly dialogue oriented, and it's not super important to the story, but it builds the characters up immensly. Dialogue is obviously Tarantino's strength, and although not much story is explain through the girls talk, it brings a new emotion to the characters as the events unfold. The last piece of the movie concludes in an intense car chase scene, and a great ending.
Any fan of films, period, should see these.
Also, if you plan on buying them, pick up one first, as they both include $5 bucks off the other movie.
