View Full Version : Do you download demos?
I know some people are not fans of downloading the demos,
heck i dont bother with most of them nowdays,
unless its something im really intrested in.
I guess im just getting annoyed with downloading something that take ages,to play it for about 10 minutes then thats it,
Area 51 being a case in point,
with its walk for ages and nothings there to shoot,
shoot some stuff then it ends.
so basically what are your thoughts on them?
I download some. Mainly if I'm considering a new purchase.
Last weekend I was going out to spend birthday money on games so I downloaded a few demos the night before to see what I thought of them without spending money.
I don't really download them often though.

I download them if its a game I've been looking forward to, or if its something I've never heard of just to see what it is.

It depends on the game, my interest level, and such. I also downloaded Area 51 and wanted to promptly bash my head in, what a terrible demo. But I've found others to be intresting, Timeshift for example is pretty damn cool and has some crazy innovative features. On the other hand I downloaded the Ninety-Nine Nights demo, loved it, got the game and wanted to turn around and return it. Its a fine game, great story, playability just sucks. I've found some good, some bad, and some just terrible. Don't always rely on a demo to tell the truth about a game though, like the N3 demo they can lie.

I download anything I'm interested in. That's not really the odd one or two, but I definitely don't download all of them... waste of me IMO.

I feel the same way, most of the demo's I've downloaded turned out not to be worth it so these days I'd rather just watch a trailer and read a couple reviews. Only reason I'd download a demo is if people on the intertubes are talking about it.

I download just about every demo that they put on the marketplace with the exception of sports games. Those don't really change much from year to year. The demos are free so you may as well try before you buy.

If I think a game is going to be good I buy it. But the last game I downloaded was TimeShift and that game looked amazing for videos but when you start playing it that is the worst shooter on the 360. I hope they improve it a lot before release.

I just download any demo that has gotten a somewhat decent review and that it seems like I would enjoy playing. I just put on background downloads and turn on Auto-Off, so it doesn't overheat. I had like 30+ demos on my old HDD.

I remember back in the day when the only way to get new content was to download demos. Hell, I still have the Franz Ferdinand video on my old HD. That was my first ever download.
But, I digress.
I download what I'm considering for purchase. I've downloaded games that I had considered buying that turned out to be poop-in-a-bag as well.

I download the demos for game that I'm not sure if I want to buy or not. They usually help me decide.

Odd one every now and then.
Ace Combat 6 demo, COD4 Beta and Bioshock ones are the only really ones I've played in ages. I usaully go for the demo when I'm thinking of buying the game.
