LOL. My team is getting pwned. Vick is getting 0 pts every week....anyone know why?!? Who would have guessed that LT, LJ, and Shaun Alexander would be held in check this far into the season. and Show me a person who drafted Favre on purpose....what a season he's having

Dude, I hear ya.:p
But I really don't care all that much about whether I do good in fantasy football, all I care about is the Broncos getting to the playoffs...They were on a bye this past sunday and we're set to play the Steelers this Sunday...I hope to god we bounce back from the San Diego game and put a necessary win up.
Overall, I think the AFC West will be a closer battle than most think, but my prediction is that if the Broncos don't win the division, they will at least make wild card.
Oh, and in light of the 6 weeks of games so far, what are your predictions you guys? (As far as playoff teams go?)
I wanna see what some of y'all have to say before I say anything.

I hope the Texans can bounce back from their 3 consecutive losses because I would love to see my team go to the superbowl and I don't think anybody would have seen it coming by looking at their roster at the beginning of the season

OUCH pig...a Broncs fan. I, myself, am a Chiefs fan (as well as the Bills because of location). The AFC West is hands-down the hardest division in the NFL year after year....should be a great run to the playoffs. I can't believe the season is already 1/3 over!!

As long as you guys do your best to take San Diego out of the picture, I don't mind taking a wild card. :D
But when we play you, I'm pretty sure we'll win both away and at home. Sorry.:p
Denver plays Pitssburgh this week. Now THAT division is looking surprisingly tough. Steelers, Ravens, Browns, Bengals....it's goin to be close.

Saints blow. Last season was fixed for the victims of Katrina and "bring the country" closer...garbage...just like the Steelers win in the Super Bowl to give Bettis one before he retires...
Anyway the North is definitely good this year. The Browns have come out of no where and McGahee is a great fit in the Ravens offense, moreso than Lewis.
KC will hopefully make the playoffs....and we are splitting the matches this season, each winning at home.

Well South Florida in NCAA is doing pretty damn good dude, so I wouldn't complain. ;)
Our high school is going 0-7 currently. I blame the coaches and our D-line (and O-Line). However, we did play some nationally ranked High Schools, so it's all right.
Did you guys have to play Miami Northwestern Shadow? Damn, are they good. They beat Southlake Caroll (Who we played) and that was liek their first loss in 5 years.

What a day it's been after only the first set of games. Tom Brady and 6 TD passes, Rob Bironas and the last second FG to win the game AND break the record for most FGs in one game. Craziness. Plus my Bills beat the Ravens!!!! Now if only my Chiefs can hold off the Raiders, it will truly be a great day!

But yeah, I'm looking forward to tonight's game. Pitssburgh is looking mighty-tough, but Denver's coming out of a 3 game loss streak and a bye. They are mean, not green, and are ready to play some football. I say Denver wins. :D

Anyone watch the Vikings/Cowboys game? It was a pretty damn good game. Back and forth for most of the game. Also, the Vikings had an awesome fumble recovery for a TD when a guy lateralled it to his team mate. It was awesome. Also, Dallas blocked a field goal and ran it back for a TD. Most of the scoring in this game was on defense.

Just now checking up on this thread, so sorry for the bleated reply. :D
Anyway, I did watch some of that game, but COME ONE!!! Did anyone watch the Pittsburgh/Denver game? We OWNED Roethlisberger, and the only reason he got any yards is because he is VERY good in the pocket, and I think every third down coversion made by the Steelers was a pass that Big Ben had to scramble depserately for. And the Broncos won WITHOU Champ Bailey and Javon Walker. And Dre Bly as well as john Lynch were questionable to return, but they did, and they played very well.
Cutler is shaping up to be the next Elway, he has a rocket-arm and can throw into the smallest of windows when his receievers are getting covered. Although we may be last, or close to last in yards allowed per game, we are 2nd in the NFL is passing yards allowed per game, and we are number 5 in the NFL at total offenesive yards per game.
We got off to a Rocky start (Speaking of the Rockies, they are in world series bizznatch :p) but everything is shaping up for a dominant season for the rest of year. They really need to beat Greenbay this weekend, good luck to 'em!

Do you think the Miami Dolphins or St. Louis Rams will get their first win of the season this week? Miami plays the Buffalo Bills and St. Louis plays New Orleans Saints. I think Miami has the best chance of the 2.

graf1k
11-20-2007, 05:08 AM
Exactly, someone should stop them. I have to say, I have no love for the Pats, but I'm starting to now that everytime I turn on ESPN someone is whining about NE running up the score on teams. I mean seriously, when did the NFL turn into such pussies that other teams need to take their feelings into consideration when considering whether to go for it on 4th & short or whether to go for the FG. I mean, the NFL isn't like the MLB where a team can go out and spend 3-10 times as much money as another team and have a huge advantage. The NFL has a salary cap for Christ's sake. Stop whining. The Pats are playing on an even keel with everyone else, they just seem to do a better job at finding the right talent at the right time. There is no reason they should be able to run up the score like they are except for the fact that they are just flat out better than the other teams, from the coaches on down the line.
The whole concept of "running up the score" is just a lame excuse to me. Two teams field the best players they can find, pit them against each other, each expecting their group to give it everything they've got. If everything they've got is 20-40 points better than everyone else, tough titty.

I think it was the right move and just hope we can pick up a good coach because we got talent.
Tripl299
01-04-2008, 05:13 AM
Yes, now that the dolphins fired cameron, now they can go after cowher. I would like to see that, but don't think it will happen. If they would hire him, I bet any money with parcells as vp of football & cowher as head coach, the dolphins will be in the super bowl in 4 or 5 years. Parcells will turn that team around. I never really like the tuna, but he has always won where ever he went.
Now for this year's superbowl. I bet it will be the Patriots against the Packers. With the packers winning in overtime by a field goal. Just think the league will build it up as the best team going against the best quarterback that could be playing in his last game of his career.
Farve has never beaten Dallas in Dallas. How sweet would it be for him to beat Dallas, then win the superbowl, be the MVP and ride off into the sunset, with all of the hardware in his last season. I could see the league setting it up for him. I mean after they gave the championship to Pittsburgh 2 years ago, anything is possible.

Not really man, Seattle just tunred on in the second half. :p Granted Washington could have played better, but Seattle's defense was too much.
My prediction is Dallas and New England, New England destroying Dallas.
Why? The only teams Dallas has trouble with, especially in the playoffs in their franchise history is Washington. They are out now. So they will be either playing NY, or TB. Today's game will tell. Dallas will win. If Green Bay wins, there is no doubt in my mind Dallas will win. Or not. :p I'm actually not sure. I think if Dallas can hold it together, they will make it to the Superbowl...and lose. New England is just too much of a powerhouse.
IDK though...I think they are a few surprises waiting for us...I could easily be wrong. :p
Also, I disagree with the Ravens for firing Billick, and I am very sad about Denver's record this year. We are on a decline, and win we hit rock bottom, we'll have 3 years of good drafts to go on, and we'll have some new people in staff, and who knows. It's a shame though what has happened to the Broncos. :( We'll get 'em next year!

I'm SOOOO glad the jags won. I used to go to school in the Pittsburgh area and no offense to anyone, but people from that area are pompous jackasses when it comes to their "Stillers". Put them in their place and confirm my belief that Ben Rothlisberger is another Kordell Stewart waiting to happen.
New England will take the bowl just because of the cash revenues it will generate for the NFL. Green Bay will get to the superbowl because Romo is too young and won't handle the pressure next week vs the Giants d-line. Favre and co. will take their game and then win the NFC because, well, he will retire and needs his SB ring before he leaves. This year, the only way the Pats lose is to the Packers in the SB to get favre his ring, like they did for Cowher and Bettis 2 years ago in Super Bowl XL. Mark my words on that.
Tripl299
01-07-2008, 05:42 AM
Turbo,
I totally agree with you about the Packers will win just so that Farve will get his ring then retire.
I'm from PA and I hate the steelers. I believe that the Seahawks were totally cheated in the super bowl 2 years ago. Matt Hasselback was the best player in the game and should have been named the MVP even if his team lost.
I believe the league will do what it wants to make more money and get more people to watch.
How is this build up?? Greatest team of all time vs the Greatest Quarterback of all time playing in his last game.

Tripl, you took the words out of my mouth man. The NFL is all about Revenue. As much as we don't want to belive that our favorite sports are fixed, be serious. It's a business, ya know?!?
Hasselbeck got more than screwed. How about that call when he tackled Polamalu (I think) after he threw the pick, and they gave him a penalty for a low-block?!? That right there was my turning point on when I knew the game was fixed for Cowher and Bettis.
This weekends games will be great regardless of what should be happening in the near future.
Tripl299
01-07-2008, 06:08 AM
Turbo,
actually it started 3 plays before that. He completed a pass to stevens to the 1 yard line, but they called the right tackle for holding. Then on the next play, larry foote was offsides when the ball was snapped and he sacks hasselback. The next play, alexander is running the ball and porter tackles him and he horsecollars him. But now penalty, then the next play he throws the pick and get that personal foul to taking out a blocker.
That is 4 plays in a row that all went against seahawks that really turned the game around. If the seahawks would have scored on that drive, i think the steelers won't have overcome it and big ben probally would have thrown an interception. He had a horrible day.
Turbo VDuB 44

That's true. I knew there was all sorts of ticky-tack fouls that were simply "missed". I've been saying since his very first game that Big Ben is the next Kordell Stewart. He has done nothing since that season, and even that season all he did was hand the ball of to Parker and Bettis. He's big and slow. I'm getting angry just thinking about that game haha.
Where in PA are you from? I'm in school about 40 minutes north of Williamsport.

turbo,
i live in mcsherrystown which is a suburb of Hanover. About 20 minutes from gettysburg. Have you heard of Utz potato chips or Snyder's of Hanover?? They are the two big companies here in town.
I was actually working at Utz when the last season started. I currently work at Blockbuster, but this week I'm going to try and get back at Utz.
I don't think Williamsport is that far from us. I use to do by there when I was in high school and visited my girlfriend at the time in college. She went to college at bloomsburg.

Alright, I actually want to state how ducked the NFL is. This will probally be my biggest rant post ever.
First on the Patriots. Personally, I hate the team. Brady is stuck up, and Moss is overrated. But you have to give the team credit. When the '72 Dolphins went the perfect season, it was only 14 games, with the playoffs, making it 17 games. The Patriots have already won 16, with playoffs, making it 19 games. This is one reason why I think the Patriots are a better team then the Dolphins. There is a reason why I think this. Look at the broken records:
NFL Touchdown Passes,
NFL Recieveing TDs,
Franchise Receiptons (Wes Welker),
Perfect Season,
Most Single Season wins,
Record High Points in a season,
and i think one more...
So I want them to win the Super Bowl, but there something standing in the way...
The Farve Crew. I personally think, that the NFL will fix the game. Look at the Steelers Super Bowl win. Even though I love my Steelers, that was the most fixed game I have ever seen. I want Farve to win it, so he can retire with a Super Bowl. If he doesn't win? Mark my words he will be back next season. I was going to go on about the Steelers - Jags game, but Im tired and I need bed...
BTW, I know Tripl that you love the Dolphins, so I hope I didn't attack or offend you in any way. This is just my view on the matter.
For the record, the reason I don't like the Dolphins is because of the '72 team calling themselves the greatest team ever. If you look, they didn't have the first undeafted season. The Bears did. And the whole them showing up that one game where the Bears diserved the Win, as they would of gone onto a perfect season... 1985 Bears is probally the greatest NFL team.

You didn't offend me. This is american and everybody is allowed to have an opinion. THat is one of the things that makes this country so great.
I don't even think that they were the best team of the 70's. But, I don't agree with you about the bears being the best team either. They won 1 super bowl in the 80's. The 49ers won 4 in the 80's. So, I would call them the team of the 80's. Remember, the year before the bears went 15-1, the 49ers went 15-1 and won the superbowl. Now, I hate to say this, but the team of the 90's is the Cowboys. Then the team of the 2000's is the New England Patriots.
60's Green Bay Packers
70's Pittsburg Steelers
80's San Francisco 49ers
90's Dallas Cowboys
00's New England Patriots
All of these teams showed that they know what it takes to win superbowls or championships(remember green bay won several championships before there was the super bowl)
But, I believe the best coach ever is Joe Gibbs. He won 3 superbowls with 3 different starting quarterbacks. That shows he knows how to coach. Look 2 of them weren't any good before he got them, and then they weren't any good after they left.

Wow, the seahawks and packers just started and already, the seahawks have already made the packers fumble twice. If this keeps up, going to be a long day for the packers.

So much for being a good game between Jags and Pats. It was a really good and well played first half but something with those Pats. They just won't get beat. That's okay we are gonna hopefully get them next week. If we win tomorrow. *crosses finger*
I'm a Colts fan btw.:D

Chili,
I wasn't quoting teams ranked of all times. I was stating what team was the best of the decade. Sorry, but the broncos only won 2 superbowls in the 90's, while the cowboys won 3 within 4 years. So, I would have to say that they were the team of the decade.

I'm getting pissed off. I'm watching the Cowboys game and they're just sloppy. God, how can you just not care? What's wrong with them. If they lose I'm officially going to break something.

Ok it looks like what i posted before is going to happen.
Super Bowl will be green bay vs new england.
I don't think the chargers can go into new england and beat them. but the giants might have a chance against the packers, but it seems to be farve's year.

Bring this baby back from Heaven!
I said to myself at the beginning of the NFL season and said "I'll follow the NFL this time". Needless to say, I didn't. I did, however, go to the Chargers vs. Saints match at Wembley and it was fantastic. My dad was supporting the Saints and I supported the Charges. I checked nfl.com the other day and was pretty pleased to find the Chargers were in the playoffs! Woo! I was even more excited when I found out they won their match in OT and are in the next round (against the Steelers who are said to have a good defense :().

So, the second round of the playoffs are set.
I would like to see 2 teams that have never won the super bowl play in it.
So, either the Titans or Chargers out of the AFC.
Any team left in the NFC except for the Giants. I would like to see somebody win it who hasn't yet.
I would like to see Cardinals vs Chargers with the Chargers winning it.
If the Chargers win, they would be the only second 8-8 team to win it.
Now, let's talk about Defensive Player of the Year. Are you serious?? Harrison?? With Ware coming in second. Even though I really hate the Ravens, how could Ed Reed not win it?? I mean he dominated the whole season.

Dominating? No. He was really at his best in the last 4 games. But it is STILL a very glaring mistake for him not to make it. But, whatever.
I would like to see the Cardinals play the Steelers, with Arizona winning. I just would love to see Kurt Warner win it all again, and perhaps get another Super Bowl MVP.
I don't want to see the Chargers win...and I don't want to see the Eagles win...other than that, I'm pretty satisfied with the outcome.

Pig is 100% right. He had 2 picks in each of his last three games. Domination.
