The prophets were correct future war shooter fans, there's a brand new Frontlines: Fuel of War demo on the Marketplace and it's calling your name. The massively bloated 1.7GB Frontlines demo should (key word here, "should") be available to most Xbox Live regions for download and is said to feature a pretty good taste of what Frontlines will bring when it releases early next year. We have yet to give this demo a whirl, so if you're interested you'll have to go in blindfolded, because we aren't sure if the Unreal Engine 3 graphics or Kaos Studios' development blends to create a satisfying FPS experience. But that's what demos were created for, so demo away.

I haven't downloaded it yet, but at 1.7GB yeah it should be taking a while.

Thanks To Rebecca at THQ for sending me this email.

Lock and load soldier! Its time to take the battle to your living room as the single player demo of Frontlines™: Fuel of War™ goes live on Xbox Live Market Place. Players will be thrust into the near future as they battle in an epic struggle over earth’s last oil reserves in this innovative new first person shooter from THQ and KAOS Studios.

Set in the near future, Frontlines™: Fuel of War™ asks the plausible question ‘what would happen if our oil reserves were about to run out?’. As man kind is starved of one of its most important resources two super powers face off over the last reserves in intense futuristic warfare. Starting on the oil fields of central Asia this game takes players across the globe and right into the heart of Moscow itself.

Created in collaboration with a team of military advisors this game features over sixty different weapons and vehicles all based on real world technology being developed by the modern military. Players will be able to take the war to their enemy using everything from guided smart bombs and remote control combat drones to the good old fashioned assault rifle. The unique Frontline mechanic employed in this game ensures that the gameplay is intense and fast-paced at all times as well as giving players the freedom to explore the maps fully.

The Xbox Live® Marketplace demo features the second mission of the single player game where players can experience the open world gameplay and hi-tech weaponry as well as the destructibility of structures throughout the maps. With complete freedom to complete objectives in any order and from any direction players will be able to replay this demo again and again as they discover completely new ways to reach their goal.

The finished game will feature a gripping and immersive single player storyline spanning eight vast missions and an exciting multiplayer mode for up to 32 players featuring a unique role and load-out system allowing players to customize their character to suit any situation.

So what are you waiting for? Download the free Frontlines™: Fuel of War™ demo now from Xbox Live® Marketplace and get right into the action! The full version of Frontlines™: Fuel of War ™ will be available for Xbox 360, Sony PS3 and PC in February 2008.

I played this last night. As for single player, I don't know how much fun it's going to be with the whole capturing points idea. I bet it'll be a blast online though, especially with 32 players!

This game made me want to do awful things to my self. It was just plain boring. I think I would rather watch paint dry on grass while it grows then play it again.

Yeah.. I was really looking forward to it as I like games like BF2:MC COD4 and stuff...

I just ran through the hole town on the first mission without even realising that I had to take the positions along the way.. Felt like it was wierd taking the positions, no build up or anything and it was like... stand here... take the point.. next one..

Framerate changes alot, and it seems really stiff.. Not very much fun... tanks suck aswell..

Sums it up for me right there. But the little remote control explosive cars are an awesome idea, but handle for shit. I kept running it into sand bags and swaying around until I got lucky and ended up by the tank. Stiff is right though, when I started playing through this it reminded me of America's Army (the one that just came out). The guns recoil is about ridiculous and takes some getting used to. Other than that the graphics look alright, textures are so-so, but the character detail sucks something horrible. It just seem a little over polished for a war game, if you get what I mean.

Too many fps games are doing the same things over and over again. We need new stuff, not your bog standard arcadey games.

They keep saying about "non-linear" gameplay.. But this is like.. run around randomly..

Clipse, You want it to be abit more dirty and musky eh?

LOL, I want it to be a little less shiney. I mean look at games like R6V, GRAW, or any of the CoD games and the characters clothing is how it should be, as far as color and fit. Even in the opening cut scene of this game I thought to myself why are the characters wearing shiney gray pants you'd see on that guy from the new haircut video in the club. It just didn't seem to war like for my taste. So I want the game abit more dirty and musky Curtis, but I'd like my ladies hot, sexy, and well... "dirty" as well. :p
