View Full Version : Thieves steal a truckload of Rock Band

The LA Times reports a truck with over 1,000 boxes of Rock Band was hijacked yesterday. The robbers kidnapped the truck driver, held him at gunpoint while they unloaded the truck and then released him after the deed was done. For those interested in the math, the thieves got away with $170,000 worth of merchandise.

According to authorities the circumstances of this hijack are very rare as the thieves actually kidnapped the driver and drove around for an hour -- the kidnapping charges carry a life sentence. Our big question: How do you inconspicuously store and fence 1,000 Rock Band boxes? May we suggest checking the Canadian border, we hear they're getting a little desperate up there.

lol, Ebay!!!

Yep...Ebay or Craig's List...if they were smart about it, which they seem to be a bit wiser than most...sort of...kidnapping the driver was a 50/50 thing in my view...keeps him from immediately ratting them out, they can store the product without fear of the cops coming for them chasing them down with it all, since the driver can't get to help...on the other hand, he may have known the location of the merchandise, making it easier to find...never know...he may have been in on it as well...how would they know that that truck had the 1000 rock band units? It's not like the truck flashes with Rock Band on it or anything...

But if they were wise, they would sell them off, 1 by one from different names and accounts. Making it more difficult for the cops to follow a pattern or trail of 1 guy selling 1000 Rock Bands from his Ebay account.

Reminds me of "The Fast and the Furious" to be honest. Have a guy drop you the info, contents, truck identification, and you're set.

As for how to tell them there are tons of options. Hell they'll probably sell a few out of the trunk of a car, possibly return a few to some retailers without a receipt. eBay was my first thought, but you're not going to have someone post up in their eBay store that they have 1000 units for sell. If they're smart they'll have several accounts set up, different IPs, different computers, etc. The main thing though since we're so close to Christmas they won't want to flood eBay with that many units, it would bring prices down.

Very nice. That's alot of Rockband though. Seriously the time invested in that isn't prolly even going to pay off. Especially with the risk.

They aren't too brilliant. If they get caught and convicted on the kidnapping charges, your talkinga bout risking life imprisonment for less than $200K. There's easier ways to get that kind of money you know! Like getting hit by a douche bag in a pick up truck.... ;)

I love how everyone is thinking of ways they could do it, makes me realize how much potential everyone here has at being master thives. :p
Anyway, I would not sell ANY rock band units for at least 2 months on EBAY or online at all. And of course, I would make sure me and all my friends at least got one. :p

The best thing for them to do is return it all though, right guys? :D

No wonder I can't find one! Bloody bastard give me one. You have a 1000 I think you can spare one... But seriously why the hell would you risk life in prison over a video game and around 200k? Doesn't seem worth it IMO
