View Full Version : Sensible World of Soccer Pulled From XBLM

After a long build-up, Sensible World of Soccer rushed onto the Xbox Live Marketplace field this morning and promptly fell on its face. (Thanks to West Ham's Robert Green for the visual aid.) The beloved soccer game apparently suffered from a bug that would sign players out of Live as soon as it started up, and wouldn't sign them back in until they returned to the dashboard. After the forums erupted on Codemasters' official site, the game was pulled from Marketplace.
There's currently no announced timetable for its return, but we'll update this post as soon as we hear something new. In the meantime, Major Nelson has the lowdown on all the "anonymous" information your game will collect on you to present you with the very finest in in-game advertising. ... Once it's working, of course.

Jeez. How do you not catch something like that in even the most basic QA.

Thats odd that wasn't caught before. Seems like it would be a basic item to check.

I've heard mixed reviews on this and I have been looking forward to it for about 4 months. Someone has to let me know whether it's worth it to pay 800 points for a game that may be shite.

Am I the only one who thinks the name is really gay? Dammnnnnn:confused:
It's got to be embarassing to have your game flop like that though.

Yeah it must be really embarrassing for that games company.

Of all companies... Codemasters. Makers of Dirt, Overlord, the Brian Lara Cricket series, and the Race Driver series. Fairly shocking they'd let something like this happen.

It would be awful if the repaired version gets put up and it formats peoples hard drives instead of kicking you off live. Haha.....That's actually kind of scary....I may wait to download arcade titles from now on...

Funny you should mention that, there was actually a patch for Quickbooks that was released last weekend that "shredded" the hard drives of Mac's after its installed. With that being said its very possible for something like that to happen, lets just hope it never does.

There was a demo once for shadow of the colossus for the PS2 that would format memory cards if they were plugged in while playing. It was randomly triggered so it got a bunch of people before they realized it.

If you downloaded a version prior to today, please delete that version from your storage device and redownload it (at no charge if you purchased it.) Here is my original post on the game
Thanks again for your patience while this was sorted out. Have a great Holiday.
