NEW YORK (AP) - Roddy White and four other Atlanta Falcons were fined by the NFL for violating uniform regulations with tributes to Michael Vick during last week's Monday night game.

Vick, Atlanta's suspended Pro Bowl quarterback, was sentenced to 23 months in prison on federal dogfighting charges the morning of Dec. 10. The Falcons played at home against New Orleans that night.

After scoring a touchdown, White displayed a "Free Mike Vick" T-shirt under his jersey.

He, along with tight end Alge Crumpler and cornerbacks DeAngelo Hall and Chris Houston, were fined $10,000 each. Crumpler, Hall and Houston all wore black eye strips with written tributes to Vick, which the league called "displaying an unauthorized personal message."

Wide receiver Joe Horn was fined $7,500 for pulling up White's jersey to show the black T-shirt with handwritten white lettering. The fines were confirmed Tuesday by NFL spokesman Randall Liu.

Hall also had a poster of Vick on the field during pre-game introductions.

The Falcons lost the game 34-14.

Why did they put the score in there??
But I commend then. They show they didn't give up on Vick and still support them.

I mean honestly, whats 10k to a multi-million dollar superstar?

Honestly I'm not a Falcons fan and I've never liked Michael Vick from college to pro I just don't like his style of play and feel that he's more of a running back than a quarterback. What he did to those dogs deserves a stricter sentence than what he got. As for his boys on the Falcon's if I were management of that organization I'd usher them out, you don't want that crap supported because this guy has some feet and knows how to use them.

What I'm more dumbfounded with is the hypocrisy that some of these guys have. Just last week when Bobby Petrino left you had the likes of DeAngelo Hall, who is by no means any sort of worthwhile spokesperson for even himself say that the action of Petrino were despicable because he lied to team owner Author Blank. But if you remember way back in April when the whole Michael Vick thing came about Vick himself told Blank that he did not kill those dogs and did nothing illegal; months later Vick pleads guilty. DeAngelo Hall's boy, Michael Vick lied to Author Blank but he'll stand up for him and call Petrino's actions despicable.

I'm going way out on a limb here and I'll apologize right now for what I'm going to type. But this whole support of Michael Vick thing is a racial thing and nothing more than that. I'm glad those players got suspended, they deserve it.

Racial thing?? That is too far, if you had a white person on there team do the same thing you don't think they would stick up for him?? Maybe I am going out on a limb here but the football teams I have been on we were like a family and stuck up for everyone. Not someone we didn't like or wasn't important. I think it shows they still care for him and want him to know that they didn't forget about him even though he isn't on there team.

Now, the QB thing I agree with to an extent. He did run more then he should but having a versatile QB like that is something a lot of teams in the NFL want. Like a VY type player. Granted, VY makes plays with his arm he has better receivers IMO. Vick had a good/great arm, but he had no one to throw it too. If you look at what he was working with, the receiving core sucked. And still does to this day. (Joe Horn is an exception but he's old). Now say Vick had any receiver like TJ Whosyamama(:p) he would definetly have passed more. But he was gifted with speed and an arm so he did what he had to to help them win. And it worked. They reached the NFC championship with him.

Oh and by no means am I a falcon fan or Vick fan for that matter. What he did was despicable but he was a skilled player.

But "Free Michael Vick"? Are you kidding me? Why do these people think he should be free? A law is a law is it not? What would they do if he killed one of their dogs? Maybe I shouldn't have said racial, maybe I should have said "culture" instead. Many plays of professional sports don't see whats wrong with fighting dogs, or killing one period. It's almost as if they have this wanna be thug mentality about them that they want to be involved in. I can understand if they grew up around it and the culture does sink in, but a law is a law. Another reason why I mentioned racial is because I honestly haven't see any white people coming out in Vick's defense saying he should be freed either.

This is one of the reason I absolutely hate professional athletes (celebrities period), they think they are above the law; that just because they "entertain" people they shouldn't be forced to follow the laws and rules of mortal man. He did what he did and he got busted, I'm don't feel sorry for him nor do I feel sorry for those who support him. Had he followed the law he wouldn't be in jail and those players wouldn't be fined.

The "Free Mike Vick" was too far. Not going to argue that but I do believe they should show that they are still there for him. I don't feel sorry for Vick either, he did what he did and he should pay the price. It's obvious he got off easy but hopefully he will learn his lesson.

There's going to be a few on that team will be like "Fuck Michael Vick!", if I were on it thats exactly what I'd be saying. I'm a dog lover so much so that I'd do anything to protect my dog. Granted I understand when you say teams become families however teams like families can be torn apart by an individual who lies and does something others see as wrong. Vick did both, he committed a horrible act then lied about it to everyone; some will never forgive him and its understandable.

Same, I love my dog and couldn't imagine if anything happened to him. But your right Vick shouldn't have lied. He knew what he was getting himself into when he lied. I think he knew he was messing up the team when he did it. He just flat out didn't care. He had the world in his hands. Major endorsements kids looking up to him. He was at the top of his game. I understand that the team would say this those because he helped the team tremendously and they became family. I do think the Coach whoever that ends up to be make sure that he tells the players Vick isn't on the team anymore and he isn't helping us wins games so stop thinking about him and start thinking about winning. They have a good team someone needs to lead them.

I agree, Vick got off easy but the NFL is just getting out of hand, like when brandon marshall got fined for using snow as props????

This is obviously a two man thread... Vick is a good athlete, but he deserved way more then he got! I'm sick of celebrities getting off easy, or getting nothing at all. If it was one of us we would already be sitting in a deep dark corner for the rest of are lifes. I understand a team is a brotherhood, but they screwed themselves over by doing what they did. They knew going into it they would get fined and/or suspended! If your dumb enough to want to be in something like that(Dogfighting)... Atleast don't have it be yours! I mean c'mon did he actually think he would never get caught? Animal cruelty is something I frown upon greatly! Vick should sit and rot for all I care. I think he has seen his last days in a NFL uniform. Why would you throw your life away? He had endorsements, great ones! I don't understand how celebrities can throw there lifes away for some stupid reason...

The whole can't do endzone dance thing sucks! Remember the glory days!!! The dirty bird, TO, god I miss those days...
