1UP reports of an SNK Playmore pamphlet circulating the halls of Tokyo Game Show, advertising Metal Slug for Xbox Live Arcade. Allegedly, the text translates to "the original," suggesting that Metal Slug 1 will arrive on Microsoft's download service. But when?

Aside from the XBLA pipeline being jammed full of pending titles, Metal Slug also has its unofficial successor, Alien Hominid, to contend with. With Hominid well ahead of Metal Slug in the queue, and (hopefully) a more dedicated effort from Microsoft to diversify XBLA content as the service evolves, SNK's classic could fall by the wayside. We predict a late 2007 rollout.

Fap fap fap fap fap fap fap.

That's hot shit. But they announced this awhile ago.

This may wet your whistle a bit more though.

Microsoft has announced that its latest regular Wednesday update will see the addition of SNK Playmore's arcade classic Metal Slug 3 to the Xbox 360's Xbox Live Arcade, featuring updated HD graphic options and co-op multiplayer over Xbox Live.

Microsoft notes that Metal Slug 3 "provides gamers with various route selections within each stage enabling players to play over and over," as Marco, Tarma, Eri and Fio "hit the battlefield to stop General Morden from disturbing the order and peace that has begun to return to the world."

The fourth game in the popular Metal Slug franchise (following Metal Slug 1, 2, X), the Xbox Live Arcade version will feature all of the arcade original graphics, with the usual filtered options for HDTVs, leaderboards, and Achievements.

Originally held back from the Live Arcade because of size restrictions, more lax policies from Microsoft mean Metal Slug 3 will see its release on Wednesday, January 2, at a price of 800 Microsoft Points ($10).

Also:

We know that there are some of you who have already tired of your holiday toys, and while we think this is incredibly selfish and that you should be ashamed, Microsoft has stepped up, announcing an "updated version" of Metal Slug 3 for Xbox Live Arcade. The game will roll onto the service next Wednesday, January 2, and promises updated HD visuals and two player co-op over Xbox Live, along with all of the 'rocket lowncher' antics you can handle. So, for those of you who are just like my mother, and are never satisfied, prepare to fork over a cool 800 MS Points ($10). There, happy now?
