Lost in Cyberspace: don't recover your gamertag!

Well I went to my cousins house and decided to download my tag so we could play some GHIII, but it failed before I could recover it, so I though that was that and left it, now when I came home it said that my tag had been recovered on another account and I needed to copy it over,
I then tried to download my tag again (6 times) and every time I tried i got the 'Xbox live sign-up is currently unavailable' and I spelt everything right, this includes my gamertag, passport and password (I spelt all case sensetive too)

any help would be appreciated, but my advice to you guys is to not try to recover your tag right now - seems this problem is happening to others as well on the live forums.

It's because the damn servers/lines/whatever it is, are so goddamn slow right now it's unbelievable...since before the Fall Update, but even worse since, Xbox.com, live, everything in general has been slow as balls

Your best bet dude is to invest in a Memory Card man. $20 used usually since the big one came out. It is an invaluable asset bro!

Not sure how this issue will be resolved man, but I have seen a bunch of reports regarding account recovery being screwed up today. XBL has been having various issues for nearly the last week; I noticed it was very glitchy when in the Marketplace last night.

I'm sorry your gamercard is stuck in no man's land right now, but I doubt someone is out there with it. I think /hope once the XBL issues are resolved you'll be able to recover the account back to your console. On a side notice I"d like to point out this is why I keep a memory unit and if I put it on someone else's console its always by MU, never account recovery.

its funny, I keep my GT on a memory unit, which I lost somewhere in my house, so yeah thats why i didnt use that :p

Call of Deli 4 matchmaking is down and everything is slow as hell. They really need to get their shit toghether considering we're paying for this. >:/

Yeah I tried playing Call of Duty earlier and I couldn't find a single match and it kept saying my connection was interrupted every time I did get into a game

Well this never happened to me. It would just take about 30 min+ to download my profile(soooo slow). I really think that MS is showing us what XBL would look like if it was free:p

lol, but yeah I spent about an hour today downloading my profile, only for it to fail at the last minute :mad:

Why is it that xbox.com is so slow? A while ago, i could check my friends list and send/check messages without any trouble at all. Now i have to wait like 5 minutes for each page to load WTF!!! :mad:

The reason it goes slow when you're downloading your account is because its trying to prevent any kind of writing error.

And to the original poster you account doesn't need to be case sensitive you can actually change the capitalization on your gamertag.

well no matter what I do its not working, and after M$ told me to delete my tag and try again, I found that every single one of my saved games has been erased, I shouted down the phone at that guy for over an hour about why he didnt warn me and why it isnt working. im just gonna leave it for a while

I did the same thing by accident once. All my save games(especially Viva Pinata) went bye bye:( Well M$ sucks dick at times, and they are doing it right now.
