View Full Version : XBL Hacker Steals Halo 3 Armor, Microsoft Says "What's a Hackings?"

A poor fellow at the official Bungie.net forums is claiming that he had an Xbox Live account hacked for his Halo 3 Recon Armor, which was gifted to the victim by Bungie itself. What's worse, Microsoft is currently refusing to do anything about it, and the unfortunate known as Skyllus (creator of the Halo 3 suicide video (http://gameroom.mlgpro.com/view/c2o6PCbPBhA.html)) apparently even had Xbox Live's customer support hang up on him.

Despite Microsoft's claims of a hack-free Live, Skyllus alledges that this has happened three times in but two months, and this latest has even had the hijacker bragging up his sad work (http://www.team-vbi.net/teamvbi/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=3826) online. The hacker is believed to be part of the "o infamous o" clan, a group of the so-called "best" account thieves online.

If you check out the thread, you can see what a hassle it has been to get Microsoft to do anything about it. I've had to deal with Xbox Live's customer support before and I can lend my own testimony to how unhelpful, lazy and downright rude they can be. They've finally launched an investigation and hopefully something gets sorted out.

As for the waste of sh*t in a bag of skin that is hiding behind the username of "I JaCkEd SkyLLus," firstly, random capitalization is the mark of all online retards, and secondly, you are completely pathetic, getting off on the idea of being "famous n*gga" because you can weasel your way into people's accounts. You're no different than the human vermin that we deal with at my other job who bail on the cab drivers without paying. It's a special kind of criminally pitiful that transcends revolting. Anyway, enjoy your precious Recon Armor, loser.

Best of luck to Skyllus.

He hacked him for the recon armor.

It is quite sad that you can call xbox and they will give your info out over the phone..

Read that shit, i read the first page where the dude (if its really him) came in and started bragging about it. Dropped the n-bomb to that lil piece of crap. I feel bad for this guy who got his account ganked. Knowing that he got his account hacked over the gay recon armor that was a gift from bungie.

Scares me cuz i know if i talk shit to the wrong guy on live they can just pull this number and take my account. Id probably die, jk. It would be a very, very bad day though as i put alot of work into my score and all. This is also the reason why i dont like people being able to see my name off of someone elses friends list. Im thinking about calling up and having start a secret password deal as well.

PS, im going to go give him my support on there boards probably. Try to branch out a lil ;)

i highly doubt that you can completely prevent hacking. there's always going to be loopholes, you might be able to fix it after the fact but people will always look for ways to exploit games/internet anything they can.

Yeah but the dumb shits they've got working support at XBOX Live don't help anything... they give out information like it's candy at Halloween... retarded IMO. If I'm calling I should have to tell you the credit card I used, my full name, my gamertag, and the e-mail I used to set up the account... just telling you I can't remember for any of that should be immediately identified as BS.

I lol at microsoft for saying hacking doesnt happen, as one of my friends actually demonstrated to me how it was done by hacking my account and sending me a message while I was still logged on.

hopefully Microsoft gets off their arse and finds out what happened.

It's the same as late 06 when aload of pro accounts got hacked. It's rediculous and they still expect us to pay.

Why doesn't the guy just contact Bungie and get another set? It's not like they don't have access to give anyone this armor. It's bad his stuff got hack but if Bungie gave it to him why the hell is he asking a 20k a year tech to try to get it back for him?

If someone robbed my account I'd just reset the password on it immediantly and get it back.

The guy changed all the information on the account, Apperantly he jacks them all the time. MS did give an account password reset to Sky but he is letting them do an investigation on the dude that stole his account. If they turn up anything they are giving the dudes name to the authorities, good luck with that

Sadly, this is a case of what is called Social Engineering, one of the oldest hacking methods. Kevin Mitnick was famous for his ability to trick people in to giving him what info he wanted. I feel sorry for Skyllus. I certainly hope that he can get his account back and keep it. Sometimes being an internet celebrity paints a big bullseye on you.

Microsoft is plain retarded. I wanted to demostrate to a friend about he easy it is to get the info from Microsoft. I called, asked a bunch of questions stating I couldn't get onto my Gamertag. 10 Minutes later I had his account sitting on my Xbox.

Next time I want to record the call...

Also, its simple to happen, as even i have gotten an account stolen before.

This is sad but it is also a case of a major corporation not caring about it's subscriber base. And if you gamerscore is average you would have to sift through thousands of tags before you found it if not 100's of thousands.if you find it at all.
they have to fix this.
It goes to show you tho,use your credit card at best buy and get your points and memberships thier.

This is correct. The problem with social enineering is that it's very hard to secure against, and that the only way to do so is to spend a long time training all of your employees, and even then there is no guarantee of succes. And of course MS isn't going to spend milions training the people that work at their asian callcenters, there's just no return on investment.
