If your in the UK theres a documentary on this lady in the next few days on channel 4.

The bedridden 29-year-old begged doctors to perform the operation when she became so large that she couldn't hug her two children.

Her astonishing size meant that the operating table had to be specially widened for the procedure.

Why is it a big story in the UK when she is from Texas...did I miss something? It's sad, but I don't see why the UK would cover this, I'd think it would be on one of my local news channels or something.

Clearly you missed the word World News the documentary was made and channel 4 bought the rights,
a bit like americans buy the rights to show our tv programmes.

I'm sure it was on the discovery channel sometime. I really can't understand how someone can get that HUGE?

My bed isn't as wide as she is.

Heres how she became so big,

Renee, from Austin, Texas, had battled with her weight since childhood and was classified as super-morbidly obese at the age of 12.

She was married by the age of 15 and had her first child, Mirina, at 16 weighing 30 stone.

Renee had grown to a massive 35 stone by the time she had her second daughter Mariah.

Tragic: Renee died days after the surgery
"When you don't have that thing in your head that tells you you're full, it's disgusting the amount of food you can eat," She said.

In 2003, she was hit by a drunken driver in an accident that left her unable to walk because her leg was crushed.
She became bedridden and began eating even more.

And to answer juiced 1 stone = 14 pounds

Sorry if this affends anyone but she did this to herself. This is no lie. My brother got hit at 60 MPH by a car when he was on the back of a moped. And this boy is 26 years old 140 pounds wet and wearing boots. He was in a body cast for 9 months. Blaiming it on your own brain is not a reason. Feeling sorry for herself killed her.

Fair enought, her having a medical condition is not her fault and stuff. But there's plenty of medication these days for it. I she didn't just go from 30-35 stone to 70...

The fact is that even if she's on 1200-1500 calories a day, she's going to die in the exact same spot she's layed for so many years.

There's one line that I've always remembered, and I don't know where I got it from. Someone once told me something like: a disability is god given, a handicap is man made. For me, it put things in line that no matters what happens, there's ways around everything.

If she was disabled because of her leg, then she wouldn't have to work. There for she had all day everyday to do something about herself. She could of spent 4 hours a day swimming and moving around, limited to the low number of calories a day and burnt off alot of what she weighed.
