I've never seen High School Musical, but being that its a musical if I did I'd personally kill myself. Aside from that I grew up on the Star Wars movies. I'm laying underneath a fleece blanket with Yoda on it, Tie Fighter was the first computer game I ever owed, and if I buy only one game this year its going to be Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. (However I'll likely buy Soul Calibur now...for both 360 and PS3)

My thoughts exactly. Who ever it was they either haven't watched all the Star Wars, watched them in the wrong order, or just doesn't understand that story.

You have to watch these movies in the order they were MADE...

Oh, and my wife watched all the Prequel's first... so she watched them in Episode order, not created order... and she likes Star Wars just fine! (The star wars episode of Family Guy revealed this huge hole in her young cinema life... so I made her watch them all :))

They're not that impressive on today's standards, but you have to appreciate what they did... before Star Wars the word "blockbuster" hadn't been invented... they revolutionized the movie business and paved the way for the amazing movies we get today... and they're still pretty good :)

I'm gonna say this knowing that you weren't even born when Star Wars was originally released, so if you know it already, I apologize.

George Lucas created Industrial Lights and Magic specifically to do the special effects for A New Hope as the technology didn't exist at that time. Because of that movie, ILM became a pioneer in some of the fx that we just take for granted...

Sorry to reply to this so late, my computer has been having MAJOR issues all week. Ugh. :p
Anywho, I don't see how this is even a contest. Star Wars wins whether you like it or not. IT is some of the greatest story-telling ever used in cinema, because it is essentially current and old folklore strung together in a different time and place, beyond many people's imaginations...
The films pioneered the industry in so many ways, and ILM wouldn't even exist without the films, and Special effects owe SO MUCH to the Star Wars films. Plus, no one can say "Chewbacca" or "Darth Vader" without knowing their associations.
What the hell Zach Effron and Corbin Blue's names in the movies were doesn't matter to me...and I could ask anyone of any age, more people would know Star Wars. High School has nothing great about it...honestly,what has it done but *maybe* keep Disney's stocks a little more valuable? Exactly.

A reasonable debate would be Grease and High School Musical. And still, High School Musical would lose.
