Capcom has not officially committed to a release date for the Devil May Cry 4 demo. However, the date appears to be revealed on Capcom's two official minisites, deceiverdeceived.com and betrayerbetrayed.com. One section of the minisites solicits fans to download a DMC4 widget to post on blogs or their own fan sites. The sample image on the page for the widget states that the DMC4 demo will be made available on Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network on January 31.

Capcom confirmed today the release of a Devil May Cry 4 playable demo by announced that it will hit the PlayStation Store and Xbox Live Marketplace this Thursday, January 24, 2008.

The demo introduces gamers to the gothic-inspired supernatural world of Devil May Cry 4, new protagonist Nero and the awesome power of his Devil Bringer. The demo consists of a sampling of sections from the full game, chosen to showcase Devil May Cry 4's varied locales, allowing gamers to familiarize themselves with Nero's unique abilities. Players will receive instruction on the various new actions that the Devil Bringer bestows, such as the ability to slam creatures to the ground, cover great distances in a single bound or even grab enemies while on the ground or in the air and pull them towards Nero to continue an attack combo. The Exceed system allows Nero to "rev up" his sword as if it were a motorcycle throttle and unleash devastating attacks. Players will need to master all these techniques before the end-of-demo showdown with the mighty Berial.

Fully demonstrating the power of the next generation of consoles, the Devil May Cry 4 demo brings to life the coastal city of Fortuna and its surroundings in exquisite detail, such as the port and the snow-capped mountain ranges.

Hellz yeah.Hellz yeah, I can't wait for this! I also like how it's going to be different sections of the game, instead of just the first level like the demo.

I have been waiting for this for a while. The demo, I think, is going to help me decide between PS3 and Xbox 360. I think I may get it for the PS3 though.

Its going to be the same game, why not get the one that has achievements that go towards your Xbox gamertag?

I have been thinking to myself the same thing about the achievement points. It is not that it is the same game, it is about the control scheme. I just want to experience both. I know that the PS2 DMCs were simply amazing. It all comes down to controls.

BTW
This is the first game that will include those 'PlayStation 3 Achievements'.

Hmm I know, but I'm not sure how the PS3 will be displaying these achievements which is why I'm not interested in that version of the game.

In my opinion the 360 controller design is much better than the dualshock 3, which really hasn't evolved much in the past three generations. If I were to choose what platform to play a title on I'd definately pick 360 unless it looked significantly better on ps3.

I can't wait to download the demo. I have played the other DMC games and really liked them. I have been waiting for DMC 4 to come out for a while now. My only thing I am not sure I will have the money when it first comes out so I will have to game fly it instead:(

DualShock 3 isn't out in North America yet, we still have the Sixaxis which is a fine controller except for its weight. The damn thing is light as a feather, the plastic can be seen through in a brightly lit background, and as Tenacious Dave put it to me "The six axis controller feels cheaper then a french whore on a red light special." I'm seriously thinking about popping it open and adding some weight to it so it'll be more comfortable.

Like you said though if its a multi-platform game I'll be picking up the 360 version.

Ok,

That’s right kids, you heard it here first: The Devil May Cry 4 demo you’ve heard about will be up on XBox Live and PlayStation Network this Thursday, January 24, 2008. We’re told to expect it up on XBox Live at 2am PST, and between 2 and 3pm PST on PlayStation Network.

Upside: this demo is actually fun.

Downside: While there will be plenty of devil-bringification and even a pretty sweet boss battle against this guy (boss battles are definitely a major highlight of the full game), it is just a demo, and only scratches the surface of the DMC4 fun. Even if I weren’t shilling shamelessly for Capcom, I’d still have to say this is probably the best Devil May Cry ever.

Check it out Thursday, and read on for more details about the demo, and of course pick up the full game, available February 5th.

The demo introduces gamers to the gothic-inspired supernatural world of Devil May Cry 4, new protagonist Nero and the awesome power of his Devil Bringer. The demo consists of a sampling of sections from the full game, chosen to showcase Devil May Cry 4’s varied locales and allows gamers to familiarize themselves with Nero’s unique abilities. Fully demonstrating the power of the next generation of consoles, the Devil May Cry 4 demo brings to life the coastal city of Fortuna and its surroundings, such as the port and snow-capped mountain ranges in exquisite detail. Devil May Cry 4 delivers its intense action at a constant 60 frames per second at 720P resolution on HD monitors, ensuring seamless and breathtaking gameplay all in stunning high definition.

Johns making a good decision. The Ps3 can write a portion to the harddrive for accelerated loading.

Most 360 games are coded so that they cache data on the hard drive as well as long as one is present.

Graphically its pretty nice, the environments look great, the game play is fun, but there are a few things that I'm not sure about. First would be the free motion to fixed camera angles. Its great in an open battle scene where I can control the angle of the camera, but in some places such as inside buildings its just a fixed camera angle; that annoys the hell out of me. Second would be the controller setup. Come on, hold RB to target? RT doesn't do anything? Awkward to say the least, they could have made hold LT to target, at least that feels more natural to me and probably others. Third, I have to mention the invisible border that is located in some areas, I can see myself being blocked by a wall but there's still free space in front of me. Another little bit I don't like about this demo is the lack of direction, you get a map layout with super tiny dots on where you need to go so for the most part I was just guessing.

Now with this demo you get two modes, one is a 10 minute trial where you can just run through a level and it gives you a good sense as to what the game will be like. I'm new to the Devil May Cry franchise and I have to admit slapping a bad guy back with my sword then unleashing a barrage of bullets at him was pretty fun. The second mode is not time limited, its more or less a boss battle which did seem challenging at first, but once you get the idea of the creatures attacks and how you want to counter it all pans out.

Even with the camera angle issues and the controller setup setbacks I still plan on purchasing this game. I'm very interested in the story it will tell and as I said the gameplay seems solid and the game is very graphically sound. Everyone should give it a DL and see what they think of it, then post up and let us know.

I posted a couple of thoughts in my blog. I definitely plan on purchasing it too...but my limited time with it didn't "wow" me. I'm hoping it's only because I didn't get enough time with it.

For me the "wow" factor never came in untill the game became mind numbingly difficult and almost impossible. Then when I beat it I say "wow" not at the game but at my own bad self.

I feel the same way. I wasn't too impressed with it when I played it.

I want to try this out real bad and it wont let me play it as it says it is mature content or whatever even though I am 19. It wont let me download the damn demo. I already checked all the settings and everything is allowed.

Go into your Hotmail.com account that is connected to your tag and check your DOB settings in there. Adjust it accordingly so that you're over 18 and it should update on Xbox.com also allowing you to download the content.
