So I am sitting here at my place and I flipping around the channels trying to find my 2 and a half year old daughter something to watch. I flip to nickelodeon and some stupid tak and the power of something is on, then I change it to Cartoon Network hoping something would be on there, and Transformers is on. I was like alright something I grew up watching and an overall awesome cartoon.:) It was nothing like what I remembered, it was something totally different. And it was really dumb.:(
What ever happened to the good cartoons? Tale Spin, Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers, Johnny Bravo, Darkwing Duck, Captain Planet. I miss all those cartoons. How comes everything seems like some idiot in the TV studio had no idea what they were doing and let some chimp create the new cartoon?????

Agreed, cartoons these days are terrible and seem to be made for a younger audience than they were before. Though half the cartoons in our time were terrible too, you just don't remember them.

Yeah I don't doubt that they were terrible back in our time and I just don't remember it, I do however remember the good ones:D
I guess my biggest thing is that it seems like all cartoons have some kind of "moral story" to them. I don't have a problem with that, I would just like to see one that wasn't concerned with manners or "doing the right thing". What ever happened to the coyote chasing roadrunner and getting his ass blown up by an acme rocket? Or tom chasing jerry around? Those are the ones I miss. Some good old fashioned cartoon violence:omg:

Those are fifties cartoons though, made for an even older audience, you just don't see that kind of black humor in carttons anymore, because cartoons are strictly children's entertainment now.

It's because the kids that watch these don't want a moral. They want a hip show that has videogames, a nerf toy line, and action figures.
Hey Arnold FTW.

Well Naterz, I totally agree with you. Johnny Bravo was an amazing show IMO:p I actually found this channel called "Nicktoons". They show all the classic and old Nickeloden cartoons(Rocko's Modern Life, Hey Arnold, Doug[OMG!], Kablaam, etc.). On Time Warner Cable it is channel 138.

Yeah I wanted to get that and Boomer rang but when I checked with the cable company about getting those channels they said it would be like an extra $45 a month and to me it's not worth it:(

$45 extra a month! Something about that seems wrong. Well my cable comes cheap here, but when I want to add a channel it definitely does not cost that much. Try calling them and saying you want to get rid of two channels(some foreign language channels), and get Nicktoons and Boomerang. What cable company do you have?

It's called Blueridge Cable Company. It's some local company I suppose. But where I live it's either them or satellite and that it way too much money to get.

Just about every cartoon listed, with the exception of Tom & Jerry, are stuff that came out when I was a teen. Here are some things I grew up on.
13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo, Alvin & the Chipmunks, Beavis & Butthead, Beetlejuice, Captain Caveman and Son, Care Bears (Family), Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show, Chip & Dale's Rescue Rangers, Duck Tales, The Ewoks, Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids, Flintstone Kids, Fraggle Rock, Garfield and Friends, Ghostbusters, G.I. Joe, Ghostbusters, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, Hulk Hogan's Rockin' Wrestling, Inspector Gadget , Jetsons, The Legend of Zelda, The Little Rascals, The Littles, Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures, Mr. T, Paddington Bear, Rainbow Brite, She-Ra: Princess of Power, Simpsons, Smurfs, Snorks, Super Friends: The Legendary Super Powers Show, Super Mario Brothers, Super Mario Brothers Super Show, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, ThunderCats, Transformers, Voltron, Defender of the Universe, The World of David the Gnome, & more I'm sure.
There was one show from the 80s that was on Nickelodeon I loved, but don't remember the name of it at all. It was about a boy who was lost with this big white dog and a temple of gold, but I don't recall the name of it. :(

I occasionally watch boomerang to see how much better shows were back when i was little. Captain Planet would be an even better show for nowadays than back then since all this pollution stuff going aroudna dn it will make kids more aware. Most of the shows clipse said I used to always watch. toon disney sometimes has shows such as duck tales because i remember when i would watch toon disney a lot in 6th grade and those shows seemed to come on everyone in a while. Not sure about now though hope they still do i might try and watch some tonight

Yeah we definitely watched the same cartoons growing up. So when we are 95 years old in the nursing home, at least we will have something to talk about:D

Have you seen the newer SpongeBob episodes? Garbage. The writing is terrible, I mean the plot for the shows don't even make sense, and the transitions are too jerky. It's like they don't stop talking anymore. It's too fast or something, IDK.
Toond Disney puts on old cartoons every now and then, Tale Spin, Chip and Dale, etc every noew and then. Nicktoon Network has some old favorites, Hey Arnold comes on like once a day, Invader Zim come on (if you liked it) and the current mainstream cartoons.
Best Disney shows ever IMO- Recess, Jackie Chan Adventures(hearing Jackie Chan say discpline like "disispriwn" is just classic) Gargoyles, The Weekenders(marathon on right now :D) and most of all Doug. Pinky and the Brain made a comeback too on Toon Disney. Pinky and the Brain is awesome. Duh.
No good anime is on though for kids.
