Toys R Us is having a clearance of some 360 accessories including the original (i.e. non-Halo 3) wireless headset for $30 and the Xbox Live Vision Bundle (12 months Live, Vision Camera, Wired Headset, 200MS Points & Uno & Robotron) for $40. My local one also had the VGA cable for $30 ($10 off) as well.
I believe this is in-store only as TRU.com seems to be out of stock of both.

The original wireless headsets are garbage, I still regret buying mine.

There's supposedly a non-Halo 3 revision out that is as good as the H3 ones. If thats true, I'll just buy a good one somewhere else and return the shitty one later with that receipt. Best of both worlds. :D

I feel the same way. Even though I have never bought one, the people I know that have one said that it was a waste of money to get. I wanted to get one but from all the hassle I heard about them, I saved my money and points with it:D

I don't have any issues with my non Halo 3 wireless headset.

What's the battery life and mic sensitivity on yours like?

Mine is junk. People can barely hear me, so I rarely use it. Maybe I have an old hardware rev.

I think I've used it for at least 4 hours straight and I've never heard anyone complain about my voice. In fact, the response to the "can you hear me now" is usually "great".

Maybe there is a generation of mics that don't seem to work and a generation that works great. Like maybe MS fixed the problem and with the next shipment sent out a new and improved wireless mic???

Apparently there are two difference UPCs which would make swapping a bit difficult. Still waiting to find out which UPC corresponds with the version that doesn't come with an AC plug (ones with the AC plug are the older models) to see which one I have. If I have the shite one, I'll see if I can't get a good one when I check the other TRU in my area for a Vision Bundle.

Mine came with a USB charging cable...so I'm assuming I have the new one then.

Yeah, I think I'll just return the headset because I got the old version and I really don't want the headache of dealing with MS customer service again (supposedly they will replace bad wireless headsets). I was able to score a Vision Bundle though so thats some good news.
I have the first Wireless Mic and had trouble with it when I first got it. Works fine now tho.

Were you having the problem getting it to sync properly with the 1st player controller or actual sound problems?

Both, It would disconnect in and out and would make a buzzing noise. I couldn't hear the noise but others would always tell me to fix my mic. The last time I had any trouble with it was around the time Gears of War came out.

I bought a Halo 3 Bundle that included Halo 3 Legendary, the strategy guide [mostly worthless], and the H3 Wirless Headset for $150 back in September. Never had a problem with the headset, except I had to talk a little louder for it to register.
I bought some Turtle Beach X3 recently, when they where onsale for $70. Since I bought a new TV and moved the system into my room, I can now play at night without alerting the family. The microphone on it is amazing too.
I'm going to call my local Toy's R Us today to see if they have that deal as well, I could use another year plus a vision camera. And uno.

I've thought about an X3 but I just don't understand calling it a wireless headset when there is still a wire from the headset to the controller.

It's wireless for the audio....the only time you need to plug it into your controller is if you're going to use it for the mic as well.
It's worth it in my opinion. I love mine.

Well I want a wireless mic so thats a big deal to me. I've no need for wireless headphones. Anybody in earshot of my TV just has to fucking deal with it. :D

It depends. I like it for the immersion I get from it. There's nothing like playing Burnout with absolutely no ambient noise.
I have both. I use my wireless mic for simple playing and chatting. I use my X3's when I want no distractions and extremely immersive sound.
Does that make any sense? I wouldn't recommend the X3's JUST for the mic.
