Like sometimes when I put all the achievements into the program, I may want to change the order they are in, but only way to do that is to delete them and put them the way you prefer.

I was wondering that maybe you could put in the ability that you could drag one above or below another one or something like that?

Or is there already some way to do this that I'm blind and not seeing it..?

Just a thought.

I know about the way to show them (Name, GP, Description) but I'm talking bout when your making the OA, just for clarification.

Because I put a game into order as exactly as its show on Xbox.com when you haven't achieved any achievements, and I had to delete alot of them and redo it, so I'm trying to save myself time in the future.

When the program first loads it sorts them alphabetically right? I remember Rocket or someone telling me I should do this when it was still in initial development.

Let's get this discussion going because I need to be doing an update soon.

I believe it was me who said to do it alphabetically, and the reason why was to make it easier for people to find the achievements they unlocked. Since (last time I checked) you couldn't do the Ctrl +F to find something quickly, scrolling through and trying to find let's say, 'Seriously' in Gears, you could just scroll down and know that it's coming in the order. Not that it could be somewhere in the middle and you may have missed it or anything like that.

I get what you mean about putting them in the way they are listed as unlocked. Makes sense. But when most people (I'm assuming this of course, but it's a pretty educated assumption) do the OA's, I myself one of them, they go to the first profile they find or their own, that has all the achievements and snags the colored tiles and description info straight from there. Usually, from the top down. And as we all know, people gain achievements in different orders. So, thats why putting them in alphabetically made it easier and less complicated for users to find the achievements they are looking for in the OA itself. I know for myself, if I had The Orange Box, I would want them alphabetically because searching for an achievement that starts with let's say 'C' would be a pain unless I knew that they were listed from A-Z. Then I could just start at the top and not have to search through all 99, just the first few until I reached 'C'. Make sense?

It used to when it first came out, but it doesn't anymore.

I usually use the Achievement List order for them, but A-Z Order would be easier I guess, so I'll go through the last few I made & make them A-Z.

Don't do that.

If you want them A-Z they can click the achievement name column and sort them.

Oooooh. I get it now. The first few I made I put them in A-Z Order, should I put them in Achievement List order?

I really don't think it's a concern.

This idea is somewhat good, but not rquired IMO. It would be nice to put the achievements in your personal order in a drag-n-drop mecanism. One thing that I heard one anonymous user say is that what he/she wants is for the achievements to be taken off the list once you check them and save the OA. One idea I have for this is to split it into three tabs: Remaining Achievements, Completed Achievements, Notes. I think it would attract a larger audience, and I think it would be more user friendly.

I mean I don't care how it actually sorts it when your done, but lets say you like your OAs done in a certain way, like Gears of War achievements like Complete Act 1 on Insane, of course that one is before the others but maybe put them out of order and you missed Complete Act 2 on Insane, so now you have to delete 3 4 and 5 and put 2 in and then put 3 4 and 5 in again.

I just want a way to like move the achievements around and reorganize them after you already put them in.

Sure its doable eh?

Because everytime sort the list in a certain way, and close out of the program and reopen it, its back in the order that the OA Creator made it.

The way I find the "correct order" is I get onto one of my accounts I have no achievements for, then I go to MGC and find another person whos played the game but has no achievements either, therefore it lists them in correct order.

I definitely agree with what ZyNLeX is saying. When i did the Marvel OA I accidently forgot the 4th Achievement. Then when I had all of them up (58) I realised that, so I went & deleted the 53, put that 1 in, and and then did the 53 over again. Let's just say it wasn't the most exciting Saturday morning.

Thanks code, but I'm still going to make OAs in the meantime =P

In the meantime...if need be...you can rearrange the OA file by editing the XML manually and shifting it all around.

Well I've opened a .oa file in Notepad before because I get bored and I was wondering what it looked like, but I never thought of reorganizing it like that.

But that would be faster; noted for the next time I screw up. lolz

Good. If you're a Java guy go read my thread. I'm looking for another developer to help with a Mac version.
