Well, who here on the site has one? I got an iTouch last weekend and it's awesome...once it's jailbroken. So, who has one, and have you jailbroken it (Have a program called Installer on your springboard that let's you download 3rd party apps)? I have, and so far I've downloaded 12 games, have AIM/MSN on my iPod, downloaded a program that let's me control my computer from my iPod, and a whole bunch of other sweet stuff.

I got an iPhone 1.1.2 JB with tons of apps. But I need to replace my Installer some how due to some corruption on my part. I will have to re-jailbreak, and go to 1.1.3 JB over the weekened:D

Sure. I would be happy to help:D Plus you have no chance of bricking since there is no unlocking involved with hacking the iTouch. The problem that I had a few days ago was w/ the amount of app room. I downloaded so much that Installer became corrupted. I just have to redo everything. I do not mind though because i have to update anyway. Just 5 more minutes of work.

yep, it's pretty baller. I was messing around in Summerboard and on my computer last night and I made myself a custom theme. I'm working on a Console Heroes one now which should be up in the next couple of days. Although I don't know how to share it with you guys...anyone know how?

Ok I'm going to link the vids in order on how to Jailbreak your Ipod...here we go:

First, you need to downgrade to 1.1.1 (http://youtube.com/watch?v=wLFiUCq7IHc)

Then, you need to Jailbreak your 1.1.1, no need for a video, just go to Safari on your iTouch or iPhone, then go to www.jailbreakme.com. Scroll down and hit "Install Appsnapp" It will bring you back to your springboard and say downloading...etc. Then you will see an icon called Installer, thats what you use to get all 3rd party apps.

If you want to get a jailbroken 1.1.2 after that watch THIS (http://youtube.com/watch?v=TXfcnO4kjB4)

Even though 1.1.3 is out now, don't upgrade to it, even if you see something on Installer that let's you. It's full of bugs and it's better off to just leave your iTouch in 1.1.2 for now, unless you like your iPod continuously crashing :D.

Well if it does brick, update to 1.1.3, and re-jailbreak. The official 1.1.3 update fixes bricked iPhones and iTouches.

Of course. They try to hide updates and try to update automatically within iTunes. But ever since 1.1.3 came out, jailbreaking has been really safe because 1.1.3 recovers bricked phones. That is the worst thing that can happen. It is considered modding even though my friend got his modded at an Apple Store(ohhh the irony):p

Apple doesn't love it or they'd support it out of the box. Apple is known for trying to control the platform from head to toe which does help with stability...but stifles outside innovation in my mind.

Ok, guys, the CONSOLE HEROES (http://files.filefront.com/Console+Heroes+Theme+Zipzip/;9579118;/fileinfo.html) theme is now available for your download! Now, since I don't have a repo site you can download stuff from on installer, you will have to SSH into your iTouch/iPhone and install it that way. If you don't know how, watch THIS (http://youtube.com/watch?v=ulviwkWj558) tutorial. I will try and find out how to get a source for you guys to download from, but for now this is the only way to get it. I still have to fix my faulty Installer which involves re-jailbreaking. The only chance I have to fix that is the end of this week. I will keep you updated though.

alright john when you do get back the vid says to open iphuc but what do i open it with becausehe says type recovery and when i open it with textedit it doesn't do anything so when you get back please help

if youve downloaded the 1.1.1 firmware package, just try clicking restore (in itunes) WHILE HOLDING SHIFT and select firmware 1.1.1 file. not sure if that will work without doing the iphuk stuff first or not, but its worth a try... or just buy a PC because they are better.

im past the 1.1.1 finally!!! now im on 1.1.2 but does anyone know how to put the theme or is that in 1.1.2? because i want to put a theme in and im looking for a good vid on going to 1.1.2 and jailbreaking it that gives you the links for the download if someone knows one that's perfect and there aren't flaws please post the link much appreciated :)

edit: im using the itouchmaster's video but seriously he says when i open the folder it'll say OSX for macs but it doesn't have that for me can someone tell me which it is and what application on the comp i use to open it?

well i've been pissed off for the longest :p it's just stupid it makes no sense when i open the jailbreak.jar they say on the videos that something will open up but NOTHING and also they tell you to close things that say ipod and crap but how do you do that on a mac?

Well I'm sure its like 100x harder on a Mac and I have a PC so I can't really give you any tips. But for CuteFTP just make sure that you have SSH turned on on your iPod. Download Open SSH and Services and make sure SSH is turned on. Then just get the IP's to match up and you should be able to get in.

i know it's the jar file but once i open it and hit jailbreak the guy says a screen will come up of whats happening and everytime i hit it nothing comes up and he says to close everything having to do with ipod now how can i do that on the mac because he has a screen come up

well you can get those new apps for free if you jailbreak. but yeah, you should be able to just restore the ipod as normal even if you already bought the apps.

just saw that 1.2.0 is out as a beta for developers. 2.0.0 is just around the corner. such features as the ability to view excel, powerpoint, and Word docs have been announced. 2.0 will be free for iPhone users, but NOT for iPod Touch users. guess we'll have to wait for a way around that. should be able to just download the firmware file once its out and install it yourself.

there is also an AppStore where you can upload/download 3rd party applications... but i wouldnt expect it to come without a price.

just saw that 1.2.0 is out as a beta for developers. 2.0.0 is just around the corner. such features as the ability to view excel, powerpoint, and Word docs have been announced. 2.0 will be free for iPhone users, but NOT for iPod Touch users. guess we'll have to wait for a way around that. should be able to just download the firmware file once its out and install it yourself.

there is also an AppStore where you can upload/download 3rd party applications... but i wouldnt expect it to come without a price.

I already can view Word documents from my iPhone:p I can view them through emails. Also, I believe there will be a jailbroken 2.0 for iTouch users. I believe some team said that they were going to work on it.

yes, but at the moment, the only ones i can find works on MAC only.
